November 2, 2018 (Natchez, MS & Vidalia, LA) The fifth annual Possibilities Tour: “Turning Deserted Spaces Into Dynamic Places”, is returning to our area Saturday, November 10th. The Tour will take place between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and will spotlight available buildings in the downtown area of Natchez and along Carter Street in Vidalia, LA. This event represents an ongoing partnership with Alcorn State University, Natchez, Inc. and area realtors.
This year’s tour will have two new components: a scavenger hunt and a digital download of the historic information about each of the Natchez properties. The featured properties will have local realtors and agents in the buildings to answer any questions. The scavenger hunt will take place among all the featured properties listed on the map. Maps may be picked up at either Natchez, Inc. (100 S. Pearl Street) or the Vidalia Technology Center (101 N. Spruce Street). Participants must visit each property listed on the map and record the clue word found at each property in the space provided on the map. Once all properties have been visited, the completed map must be brought back to Natchez, Inc. to be entered for the drawing. The drawing for a $250 VISA® gift card will be held Monday November 12thfrom the names of all who completed scavenger hunt maps. Best of luck!
The second new component is the digital download to accompany all the Natchez properties. This information is courtesy of Historic Natchez Foundation. Chase Klugh, Director of Historic Preservation at Historic Natchez Foundation, has complied information and images of the Natchez properties that are available by searching “Possibilities Tour 2018” in the Books application on all Apple devices. You can read about the past of the Natchez properties prior to the tour and while you are visiting each property. Those who are going to participate in the Scavenger Hunt will still need to pick up a printed map at either pick up location. The partners of this event would like to say “Thank you” again to the Historic Natchez Foundation team for their assistance each year with this event. Tax credit information will also be available in both the digital download and at each Natchez property.
In addition to the Possibilities Tour, visitors and residents can enjoy a variety of events in and around Downtown Natchez. A few of those events include, Natchez Children’s Services Chili Cook-off, Angels on the Bluff, Longwood Afternoon, Veteran’s Day Celebration and Second Saturday. This event-filled weekend gives everyone a unique way to enjoy our community before the holiday season begins.
