U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is a valuable resource for investors and creators of new products, software and for companies seeking to protect trade names.

U.S. Small Business Administration is the federal agency that leverages its name to provide loans, information and other assistance to small business owners.

National Association for the Self-Employed is a membership organization providing legislative updates, articles, insurance and more to micro business owners. 

National Federation for Independent Business is the largest nationwide advocacy group for small and independent business issues. 

Center for Women’s Business Research compiles data on women-owned businesses.

International Franchise Association is a member trade organization for franchisors, franchisees and suppliers to franchises.  Search its database of franchises.

American Association of Franchisees & Dealers is a trade group for fair franchising giving tips, programs and resources especially for franchisees.

Small Business Capital Fund of MS, Inc. (formerly Minority Capital Fund of Mississippi, Inc.) provides most types of business loans that include funding for equipment, inventory, accounts receivable or contract financing, real estate, working capital, start-up capital or interim financing.    

Mississippi Development Authority is the chief economic development agency for the State of Mississippi. 

Mississippi Procurement Technical Assistance Program (MPTAP) operates within the MDA Minority & Small Business Development Division and assists businesses in obtaining federal, state, local government and commercial contracts.

Innovate Mississippi (formerly MS Technology Alliance) provides a variety of services for small and mid-sized U.S. manufacturers, from innovation strategies to process improvements to green manufacturing.  They also work with partners at the state and federal levels on programs that put manufacturers in position to develop new customers, expand into new markets and create new products.  

Mississippi Arts Commission is the official grants-making and service agency for the arts.

Alcorn State University Family Clinic provides affordable, accessible health screening, health education, health counseling and referral services.  ASU Mobile Clinic “Clinic on Wheels” provides health care needs to families within a 50 mile radius of the Natchez Campus (Adams, Claiborne, Franklin, Jefferson and Wilkinson Counties in Mississippi and Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, and Tensas Parishes in Louisiana.)
