January 23, 2013

Natchez, Miss. (January 23, 2013) – Officials from von Drehle Corporation announced today that the company is locating manufacturing operations in Natchez, Miss.  The company, which provides paper products to commercial and industrial consumers nationwide, will create at least 100 new jobs, make investments in additional converting equipment and subsequently install a paper machine.

Von Drehle has acquired the former Mississippi River Pulp facility, which closed its doors in November 2012.  From its new Natchez location, von Drehle will manufacture paper products formerly produced by Mississippi River Pulp, as well as its own product lines.  “I am pleased to welcome von Drehle to Mississippi,” Governor Phil Bryant said.  “I know Mississippi’s dedicated workforce, abundant natural resources and supportive business climate will serve von Drehle well, and I thank company officials for investing in our state and in our people.”  "We believe the people, community and state are a good fit for von Drehle, and we appreciate their support throughout this process. The company is excited to expand our operating footprint in Natchez, Mississippi." said Randy Bergman, COO of the von Drehle Corporation.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) assisted von Drehle with this project providing guidance on available tax incentives.  In addition, Adams County is providing support via Fee in Lieu tax abatements for this project.  “I am delighted von Drehle has decided to locate operations in Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen.  “I am grateful to our partners at Natchez Inc. who worked so diligently with MDA to help find a buyer for the former Mississippi River Pulp facility.  We were proud to have worked with von Drehle on this project and wish the company much success at its new Mississippi location.”

“Today is another significant day for Natchez and Adams County, and we couldn’t be more pleased that von Drehle has chosen to locate its newest operations here,” said Natchez, Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ. “von Drehle, through the site selection process, had multiple options in multiple states and their selection of Natchez-Adams County reinforces the fact that we can compete. We thank von Drehle for its investment in Natchez, Adams County as well as its confidence in and commitment to our area and its workers.  Von Drehle is a cornerstone and leader in the commercial and industrial paper products arena and we look forward to having them call Natchez home…a great Company, made up of great people.”
